This project empowers vulnerable youth in Deir ez-Zor, Syria, by providing education, vocational training, business opportunities, and psychosocial support. It addresses high unemployment, low literacy, and widespread trauma caused by years of conflict. By equipping young people with skills and resilience, the program helps them build sustainable livelihoods and restore dignity.
The primary goal of the project is to enhance the resilience and self-reliance of vulnerable youth in Kisreh District, Deir ez-Zor. The program aims to break the cycle of poverty and trauma by equipping participants with academic competencies, vocational skills, business start-up opportunities, and psychosocial support. The intended impact is to create pathways toward sustainable income, improved well-being, and protection of fundamental human rights.
Key Activities & Achievements
- Delivered basic academic education in Arabic and Mathematics to 40 young women who had not completed primary school, improving literacy and numeracy. Tailored classes using accelerated learning approaches.
- Conducted vocational sewing training for 30 female participants, including alumni networking sessions and ongoing monitoring to support employment or home-based enterprise.
- Launched business internships and start-up support for 48 youth, focusing on solar energy and electricity, with mentoring, business plan development, and distribution of start-up funds.
- Integrated psychosocial support and life skills sessions for 70 participants (drawn from Outputs 1 and 2), addressing trauma, self-efficacy, and protection risks.

Target groups reached: Vulnerable youth (aged 16–28) in Deir ez-Zor, including female-headed households, persons with disabilities, and GBV survivors from host communities, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and returnees. Emphasis on young women and marginalized youth.

All 118 beneficiaries completed at least one core intervention; 87% of trainees report improved coping strategies and economic confidence.
