Job Summary
The Health and Nutrition Officer will be responsible for supporting the design, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of health and nutrition projects. The position will contribute to project planning, budgeting, coordination with stakeholders, and supervision of field teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality project outputs in line with organizational standards and donor requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Management
- Support the development of health and nutrition project proposals, work plans, and budgets.
- Assist in overall project management activities to ensure projects are implemented on time, within scope, and with high quality.
- Supervise and provide technical guidance to field officers and technical staff, including Medical Officers and Nutrition Officers.
- Ensure project deliverables are achieved according to approved plans and donor requirements.
- Represent the organization in coordination meetings with relevant stakeholders, including:
- Health and Nutrition Cluster meetings
- Ministry of Health and Directorate of Health
- Local authorities, NGOs, INGOs, and other relevant partners
- Maintain effective coordination and information sharing with partners and stakeholders.
- Support the development of health and nutrition needs assessments, including data collection tools and methodologies.
- Analyze and interpret assessment and project monitoring data to inform decision-making and program improvement.
- Review project data regularly, identify gaps or challenges, and work with field teams to address issues.
- Support the quantification of medical and nutrition supplies and needs.
- Contribute to the development and review of SOPs, guidelines, and technical tools for project implementation and monitoring.
- Conduct periodic field visits to project locations for monitoring, supervision, and coordination purposes.
- Ensure data quality, accuracy, and timely reporting from field teams.
- Support the preparation of internal reports, donor reports, and technical documentation related to health and nutrition activities.
- Medical or health-related higher education qualification (Nurse, Medical Doctor, Pharmacist, Dentist, or equivalent).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working with NGOs or INGOs in health and/or nutrition programs, preferably in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of health and nutrition project implementation in humanitarian or development contexts.
- Ability to supervise and manage field teams effectively.
- Professional-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel to project locations as required.
